A New Yorker, a Gator, and a French Film Buff Walk Into a Podcast…

No, it’s not the start of a joke.  It's the team behind The What & Who of EDU.

After 15 episodes filled with educator wisdom, belonging tips, and more than a few bingo bonus moments, we realized that we never actually introduced ourselves.

So in this episode, we flipped the mic and turned the questions on ourselves. You’ll meet:

  • Me (Marisa) a Gator and eternal “why”-asker who has loved writing since well before the days of the five-paragraph essay. I'm on a mission to translate the jargon-heavy world of learning science into stories that educators can actually use.

  • LaShawn, a proud New Yorker and former educator who believes every student deserves to feel seen. She lights up when talking about libraries, inclusive pedagogy and strategies for building community within schools.

  • Derek, Our podcast therapist and producer. A French New Wave film aficionado, he keeps our episodes feeling thoughtful and structured. All behind the scenes but always on point and never neglectful of the bingo bonus.

Together, your What & Who of EDU team have decades of experience crafting strategic communications, designing inclusive learning pathways, and producing meaningful stories. We believe that instructors can change the trajectory of learning, and we believe we can help by sharing one practical tip, one reflective moment, and one story at a time.

TLDR on what makes this show work: Care for educators, care for students, and care for the stories that shape both.

Whether you’ve listened to every episode or this is your first, we’re glad you’re here.
