I received my Bachelors degree in psychology from Marquette University along with minors in Philosophy and English. I completed my Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Miami University (in Ohio). I completed a pre-doctoral internship at Student Counseling Service at Illinois State University. I completed my doctorate from Miami University in Clinical Psychology in May 2006. My dissertation is about women's experiences in role-playing games (like Dungeons and Dragons) and the effect of playing a character on conception of self. I have been teaching at Madison College (Madison Area Technical College) since fall of 2005. Previously, I have taught at Miami University, Illinois State University, Northern Kentucky University and Midstate Tech College in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. I spent two years before Madison College working in a day treatment center in Stevens Point with troubled kids and teens whose emotional and behavioral problems were so severe they could no longer be served in their school districts. I have also done clinical work in counseling centers, university psychology clinics, elementary, middle, and high schools, and for a court program.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, our two young sons (7 and 4), and our cat, reading, listening to many kinds of music, watching movies, painting, playing games (especially role-playing), and studying meditation.
I've been excited about taking on this new role as a Faculty Consultant for Macmillan and working to support faculty and the company in implementing technology (like LaunchPad) in teaching and reviewing materials of all sorts.
if you have questions about LaunchPad or how I use it or any other things related to teaching psychology, please contact me.
