Re: Roald Dahl's Birthday

Monday was Roald Dahl’s birthday!

Roald Dahl was a beloved children’s literature author who had published some of the most memorable titles, many of which have been made into movies. To name a few: James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are some of his most iconic works.

Here are some facts that you might now know about him:

  1. Roald Dahl invented over 500 new words and names for his books. The Oxford University Press has a dictionary dedicated to him.
  2. He served as a fighter pilot during World War II.
  3. He was hired to write screenplays, one of which was for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but they were ultimately re-written with a different person.

What are some of your favorite Roald Dahl books and movies? Feel free to comment below and let us know!

I loved reading the book James and the Giant Peach  to my son when he was young, but didn't love the movie version!
