New York, April 15, 2021 -- Macmillan Learning, a privately-held, family-owned educational publishing and solutions company, will be hosting “From Our Perspective: Black Professionals in Publishing” panel discussion in collaboration with Macmillan Publishers. Sponsored by the company's employee resource groups, Black Leaders Actively Changing Culture (BLACC) through Macmillan Learning and Black and African American Group (BAAG) through Macmillan Publishers, the event is meant to encourage BIPOC students to consider a career in publishing. This virtual event is free for all college students and instructors and will be held on Thursday, April 29, from 4-5:15 p.m. ET.
The event will feature six panelists from different areas of the company to discuss their professional journey and share their experiences working in the publishing industry. The group will also offer recommendations and tips for students who are interested in a career in publishing, but aren't sure how to get started. There will be time at the end of the panel for questions from the audience.

Through our panelists' stories and experiences, we hope that more diverse students from all backgrounds can imagine themselves as professionals in the publishing industry. We are committed to creating more awareness and opportunities for them at Macmillan,” said Phoenix Harvey, BLACC Co-Chair and Director of Marketing, Enterprise & High School Solutions, Macmillan Learning.
