Grace Magnuson | Motivation Through Past Experiences

Grace Magnuson shares what drives her to achieve more.
My Journey to #AchieveMore
Few people in this world are born to accomplish extraordinary things during their lives. These people are driven by their own motivation but for me it takes more than just my own motivation, but proving others wrong of their opinion of me, has been a capstone to my drive. What drives me the most in this world is being able to prove the ones who don't believe in me wrong. Being able to look at the people in your life who believe you won't make something out of yourself and proving to them that they were wrong the entire time is extremely rewarding to me, especially with my family background. Having a parent with a checkered background, sitting in prison, knowing they abused my love and affection has impacted my life beyond measure. Many think a mom is the one person who a child could turn to, and develop their positive motivation; but not in my case. My biological mother stole my identity, not once, but several times, my finances and sometimes I thought, my soul. She treasured her drugs more than me, so my dad, a single parent, raised me until later in his life, when he married my stepmother. Therefore, in my case, I want to go to college, not use drugs, get a good and secure professional career and prove to others that I will not follow in my mom's path. I want to prove to myself that I am capable and secure enough in myself to not use drugs, ever, and go to college, have a great education and teach others at the same time that obstacles are meant for use to tackle, ride them out, and look ahead for the smoother ride to come from an education. This is why I believe that I will succeed in accomplishing my dreams.
