Hi Lang Gang!
Could there possibly be a better moniker for the group? I think not. I love it, Megan!
For those of you who missed the session, or would like to revisit the discussion with, you can check out the recording here. While we won't be recording future sessions (we're committed to keeping the PLC a safe space for you all to brainstorm and connect), we thought that those who couldn't make the kick-off session would like to hear the conversation from Chris and Jordan, our guest speakers and authors of Union: A Democrat, A Republican, and a Search for Common Ground.
As Robin mentioned in her post right after the kick-off session, we're sharing notes that we compiled during the amazing kick-off session last month. Please do check them out below and feel free to add any additional resources or discussion points.
Here are a few items that were referenced or shared during the kick-off session that we wanted to share:
- Link to NYT article about Thanksgiving family arguments
- The danger of a single story - TedTalk by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
- Brene Brown's blog post, 'Let's Rumble'. We've also attached an integration guide from Brene designed to help educators incorporate and develop 'rumble skills' in your classroom.
- Daniel Cohen's Ted Talk Learning to Lose and For Argument's Sake
- Ideas for creating engaging breakout rooms can be found in Cult of Pedagogy
- For good measure, here's an article about Chris & Jordan's journey (literal and figurative)
Check out the very next post about the sessions coming up in January and February. As always, if you have any questions or comments, please drop a note here in the PLC group hub.
Best,
Phoenix
