Welcome to the Macmillan College Student Community!
Our mission is to provide a platform for college students to talk to other college students about campus (and quarantine) life and the topics that matter most to people in higher education. Our College Quest blog posts and student resources are created as conversation starters and we’d love to hear what you think. These are our community values. Please use them as guidelines as you engage with the people and content on our Macmillan College Student Community.
Be yourself.
You do not need to register for an account to view community content, but you do need to register to comment and respond, and that includes agreeing to our full Terms of Use. Please register as a student. In your posts on the Community site, you will be publicly identified by the role of “New Member” and by your screen name. Please do not share your registered account with another person or organization.
- Choose a screen name that you are comfortable sharing. It will be your public name as a member of the community.
- Don’t pretend to be someone else, or claim false credentials for yourself.
- Macmillan Student Ambassadors, identified with the Macmillan badge and with the “Student Ambassador” rank, are engaged by Macmillan and participate in the community as ambassadors of that brand when they share their ideas, opinions, and expertise. Authors of titles published by Macmillan are identified with the “Author” rank and badge.
Take talking about college seriously.
The members of our Macmillan College Student Community are people who are serious about college--whether it’s working hard, playing hard, or preparing for life after graduation. Respond to them in a way that is appropriate for a professional conversation. Don’t post content or comments that are not relevant to our community mission. Don’t spam members, or post the same message in multiple places.
Engage in respectful academic discourse.
At Macmillan Learning, we engage with many points of view on pedagogy, digital versus print, and the role of a publisher, but inappropriate or hateful speech is not tolerated. Don’t post sexual, violent, hateful, or discriminatory content or comments.
Honor intellectual property.
Respect copyright and other intellectual property rights. Only post content that you created or that you're authorized to use.
Protect privacy.
Don't share anything about yourself or your school that you would not want to see published in the paper. Don't post personal information about yourself or anyone else, including email address, phone number, or any content that is not your own without the author's consent.
By participating in the Macmillan College Student Community, you agree to follow these guidelines as well as our full Terms of Use. We are happy to have you!
