Healthcare 2.0. The main trends in digitalization of healthcare

Digital technologies are actively integrating into the healthcare system today. They make it possible to increase the availability of medicine, simplify the work of doctors, improve the quality of medical consultations, and also reduce the burden on the healthcare system. How are the processes of digitalization of the industry going, what are the prospects and challenges - these and many other questions were discussed by experts in the framework of the panel discussion “Healthcare 2.0. The main trends in the development of healthcare for 2021-2025 ”, which took place at the international congress“ Digital medicine and information technologies in healthcare ”.

Already this year, global investment in healthcare tech startups surpassed $ 30 billion, surpassing 2020. During the pandemic, there has been a significant increase in the introduction of the latest digital technologies. If we look at the indicators of the demand for remote formats of visits to a doctor, then, for example, in the United States, these indicators have grown 40 times in two years. Similar trends are observed in Russia. Today digital technologies are actively developing, being introduced at all levels - from private companies to public medical institutions. At the same time, the discussion participants noted a number of challenges associated, on the one hand, with the need to ensure high-quality support of patients' requests by medical institutions with an emphasis on the service component, and on the other, with the transformation of the industry itself, the accumulation of digital data arrays, their analysis and use, as well as the preparation professionals who are fluent in digital realities.

Experts note that, in fact, we are talking about the need to organize a single digital space in which government medical structures, private business education and patients can seamlessly interact.

The status of the patient himself is changing radically. Medicine is becoming client-centered, while the patient is charged with a great responsibility both for following medical recommendations in the treatment of diseases, and, in general, for a more attentive attitude to health, ensuring a healthy lifestyle. The healthcare industry is transforming, and following this, new approaches are required in training medical specialists not only in centers of excellence, but also on a national scale.
