Choose a historical figure or event from African American history and tell us in a 300-word essay or 3-5 minute video how you draw inspiration from him/her/them/it.

We are still in uncertain times, but powerful movements to address racial injustice are still going strong. The art of storytelling, as well as paying homage to the leaders and movements that came before us, remains indispensable in our quest to learn from the past.

Who Can Participate?

All higher education students and faculty (instructors and admins) are eligible to share their stories and submit to the contest.

What Is the Contest Prompt?

Please choose a historical Black person(s) or event and explain how their story or event has inspired you.
